Fashion Blog: Designer Investment Pieces Under £150. 75% Off Marni at TheOutnet.com

There's something very special about Marni, the pieces are like works of art, each one perfect and detailed, you can literally buy one piece and it remains a statement piece for years to come. Along with the bonus that with the correct care a Marni item of clothing or an accessory looks sumptuous and brand new every time you wear it. The pieces are timeless, I think of Marni as a more adventurous version of Prada. TheOutnet.com have just listed a whole dream wardrobe of Marni pieces at up to 75% off, there are some beautiful coats and jackets included. Click here to see the whole closet of Marni delights.

Couturenet's favourite investment pieces under £150 are shown below.

1. The Yellow Silk Dress. A great statement piece, perfect for this season and spring next year due to the versatile fabric and and the right shade of yellow. This is an investment piece despite its trendy colour, it is a high end designer piece at a very low price, so you will be saving a fortune by avoiding buying a current season designer dress at around £750. Also you will wear for at least a year and a half. Investment Piece: Saving money by buying out of season stock and cost per wear value.

2. The Grey Dress. A wrap style dress, perfect as a day dress with a medium width belt, the V shape at the neck is very flattering and body lengthening. A true Investment piece it would be a go-to day dress with high volume multi wear. Investment Piece: Cost per wear value.

3. Tan Leather skirts x2. Great neutral tan colour, perfect for teaming with yellow for this season and spring, but also a good wardrobe staple for many years to come down to the quality. Designer leather is better quality than high street in terms of longevity and looking brand new after multiple wears. Two styles show A-Line and pencil to suit your shape. Investment piece: Cost per wear Value and long term keeper.

4. All Seasons Sandals. These are a great style for autumn and spring, not too summery and not too wintering, the neutral colours are perfect too, dark grey or mushroom brown. They have a classic high quality style about them with a little edge, the thicker heel as a luxe look to these. Investment Piece: Cost per wear value and long term keeper.

Marni is Italian sizing so an IT38 = UK6, USA 2 & French 34, IT40 = UK8, USA 4 & French 36,  IT42 = UK10, USA 6 & French 38 and so on. Marni shoe sizes are generous.

Fashion Blog: Chloe Style At Zara

Each season I am seduced by the offerings of Chloe, watching the shows is just breathtaking and the minimalist luxe chic never fails to impress. Every piece is something we could all see ourselves wearing and will stand the test of time.

Zara are hot on the tail of Chloe each season delivering a choice of Chloe inspired pieces that capture the true essence of Chloe in quality fabrics, leathers and materials.

I spotted these Zara Cross Over Sandal £59.99 at zara.com (Leather & Wood.) The ChloĆ© lover will recognise the seventies-ish shape, chunky wooden platform and luxe thick leather in the perfect shade of light tan. I snapped up these wooden sandals a couple of months ago and have worn them many times, they wear well with day dresses and smart jeans. I recently blogged about wearing them in a smart daytime outfit here.

They are very similar to the Chloe Leather & Wooden Sandals just in today at net-a-porter for £455. Shown below.

Fashion Blog: Super Offer... £50 off when you spend £150 at my-wardrobe.com

I was really excited to receive an offer of £50 off when you spend £150 at my-wardrobe.com until Friday. I spotted three really good investment pieces at the right price to really take advantage of the £50 off. Don't forget to reduce the prices below by £50.

1. ANTON HEUNIS REVERSIBLE ROUND STONE NECKLACE £135.00
This mesmerising pendant gives you two options: Lapis Lazuli blue or enchanting Tigers Eye. Flit ip over to see the blue stone. To make up the £150 I would add some quality basics such as some hosiery ready for the chilly weather.

Investment Dressing: This is a keeper, the size and statement of this piece gives it a quality look and feel, the two very different colours work hard and the colours are ultra flattering. A real multi-wear piece too.

Snake print jersey dress with ruched waist band and wrap style skirt (runs slightly small so go up a size).

Investment Dressing: This is a multi-wear piece, cost per wear investment rather than a long term keeper.

3. MARC BY MARC JACOBS VOYAGE CLUTCH WITH DETACHABLE HANDLE £290.00
Suitably minimal, yet still practical with handy interior pockets, this gorgeous bag will be a timeless piece to wear with just about everything.

Investment Dressing: This is a multi-wear piece as it's so versatile, it's luxe for less, a good size and looks so irresistible that you'll want to use it all the time. It's a keeper too, the quality and classic but modern seventies design means you can eventually put it away for a few years then use it all over again.

My-wardrobe.com are also offering free shipping (code MWSHIPUK) on orders over £100 if you wanted something gorgeous but did not wish to spend £150. This offer cannot be used with the above £50 off offer. Valid until midnight 30.09.11.

Fashion Blog: Super Offer... USA 20% off at H&M USA

If you signed up for H&M emails, check your inbox for a 20% off one item coupon. Or, download the H&M app on your iPhone or Android and shake it for the same coupon, good 'til 9/26.

If you haven't signed up yet, you can do it today they will send you the 20% off coupon and it's valid for three weeks from sign up.

I like this "Hermes Orange" Turtle Neck Sweater from H&M at $14.95. With 20% off its just $11.96!

This turtle neck will look luxe with very dark ink blue flared jeans (the contrast of orange and ink blue will look high quality), platform wedges and a wool felt fedora in dark brown. Add a thin orange ribbon around the fedora for a luxe finish. A comfortable, chic daywear outfit for running errands around town, then meeting up with friends.

The fit is important in a sweater. If it is too baggy around your middle or especially under the arms it will look like a sack. The length is just as important, longer or shorter is better (one third or two thirds of your height from the neck down). If it cuts you in half (the bottom edge finishes half way down your height from the neck downwards) it will look proportionally awful even if you are slim.

Time Out: It's Shiply Brilliant!

I have discovered shiply.com, a deliveries website in the UK tendering delivery quotes of large items such as cycles, furniture, cars and more from many contractors large and small.

How does it work?
1. Sign up, state what you wish to have delivered including item description and measurements.
2. Add the collection postcode and delivery postcode. You can specify a date for delivery if you wish.
3. Wait for the free quotes to start rolling in from individual contractors who look at the site, the more time you can wait the better. Quotes start coming in straight away, but over a couple of days many quotes arrive to choose from.
4. How do you choose? It's down to preference, you can make you choice by price or feedback comments/rating or a combination of the two. It's a good idea to read the feedback comments to see if similar items have been delivered successfully by the delivery person/company. The quotes are all provided without obligation.

Good for home and business. Great for shows and exhibitions. www.shiply.com

Fashion Blog: Designer Investment Piece... Perfect Leather Boots At A Perfect Price

Happily browsing ShopBop.com's new arrivals I spotted these perfect boots and at a perfect price too. Whilst you wouldn't associate £165 / $250 with brand new, this season designer boots, I've got to say these tick all the right boxes for quality and an investment piece.

The taupe colour is ideal for autumn, winter and spring and the neutral tan type shade will go with everything smart and luxe casual. They are wearable too with a comfortable 3.75 inch heel, stylish for autumn's looks but still classic enough to last for years. The thing that really stands out about these boots though, is the quality... super smooth leather, quality of stacked heel and sole and most importantly all the stitching on the leather is hidden, this quality alone adds a luxe feel to the boots that would make you think they would be more like $500.

Luxury Rebel Shoes Violet High Heel Boots £165 approx. / $250
leather high-heel boots feature a gusset at the outer side and seams at the ankle. Stacked heel. Rubber sole. Pull on style. Heel: 3.75" (95 mm). Circumference: 15.5" (39.5 cm). Leather: Cowhide. Available in Taupe or Black. Shopbop.com is a US store and ships worldwide for free.

Fashion Blog: USA Shopbop.com's Most Popular Pieces Right Now

Take a look at shopbop.com's most popular pieces right now. Couturenet loves the Tibi Dress and the ALC Leather Jacket, two great investment pieces.

The Tibi Dress makes a statement, it's a great stand alone piece that needs little adornment and works for all seasons, day to night. The colours and print make it perfect for this year and straight into next Spring and Summer too.

The ALC Leather Jacket is sumptuous and luxurious which makes it a keeper! It will add this feel to create chic smart outfits and casual but luxe looks too with a patterned dress or cashmere underneath.

Lot Notice: 1977 Givenchy Vintage Chunky Stone Necklace

I spotted this divine Original 1977 Vintage Givenchy Necklace on ebay. The amber stone and heavy gold feel to this makes it the perfect addition to an Autumn wardrobe needing a unique and special 70's touch this year, it will look effortlessly chic with a beige cashmere knit and large wool fedora hat. It's also a great addition to a vintage jewellery and clothing collection.

It's Currently on $9.99 / £6.35 with six days to go.

Designer Investment Piece: Gucci Leather Gloves at Flannels for £96 and netaporter.com for £190

Never one to miss out on an investment piece bargain I browsed the Flannels Website to see if there was anything very luxe and very gorgeous to take advantage of the extra 20% off clearance pieces online.

I spotted this pair of Gucci Nappa Leather Gloves reduced from £160 to £120 - now £96 with the 20% off. They are cashmere lined and have a longer cuff which is both stylish and practical.

The thing that really excited me about these is that they are almost identical to a pair of Gucci Nappa Leather Gloves priced at £190 in the current Gucci AW2011 Collection on sale at netaporter.com.

There is a big different in the longevity of a pair of designer leather gloves opposed to a high street bought pair. I recently blogged about a pair of H&M Tan Leather Gloves £14.99, there are great and they look good, but they feel completely different on my hands.

I had a designer pair of plum leather gloves from the DVF.com AW2008 collection, with almost daily wear throughout four winters they still looked brand new (and felt brand new) in 2011, sadly I left them on a train in February this year. Maybe I'll invest in these Gucci ones to take their place.

Super Offer: 20% off Clearance Pieces at Flannels

Flannels have extended their 20% off clearance pieces online offer, simply use the promo code SALE20 at the checkout.

I am a fan of Flannels, their ranges each season are so different from other stores and their own promotional photography and choice of models is spot on. They have some great discounts too on individual items, check back to the web site regularly (they now have a new very fast web site) and use the search facility (bottom right) to look at designers you love.

I have jotted notes in the past about Flannels great investment pieces and offers:
Prada Sable Dress reduced from £625 to £120.
Hugo Boss Animal Print Silk Scarf reduced from £115 to £60
ASH Tan Ankle Cuff Sandals reduced from £165 to £80
The extra 20% off makes the pieces even better value.

What I wore today: Four Investment Pieces

What I wore today...

Missoni Rochelle Dress
Dolce & Gabanna Wool & Linen Blend Black Jacket
YSL Square Buckle Dark Brown Leather Belt
Zara Leather Cross Over Wooden Heel Shoes

I recently blogged about the Missoni Rochelle Dress. Quite pricy, but a true investment piece as it is a day dress for me and works well with both light and dark jackets. I had to take up the hem to be just below the knee to suit my frame.

The YSL dark brown belt has been one of my most worthwhile investment purchases to date, it just seems to go with everything, all my dresses, over the top of jackets and shirts too, I bought it two years ago. They were stocked in Flannels, Manchester for £285, I wear it at least once a week - so brilliant investment, since buying it I haven't needed to buy another belt. The black patent version of this YSL Belt is in the sale at FlannelsFashion.com for £165.

The Zara Cross Over Wooden Heel Sandals were a recent purchase at £59.99 I had a £10 voucher so they were within my high street shopping rule "no items above £50 from the high street". Good value for money and they indulge my quilty pleasure for tan leather accessories.

The Dolce & Gabbanna Wool & Linen Blend Jacket was a brand new with tags ebay.co.uk find at £60, the tag still had £560 printed on it. Its a great jacket and combines well for many wearable options for working and evenings! I always wear it with the lapels folded back down flat for a less formal look. There is a similar style jacket on TheOutnet.com by Twenty8Twelve

Designer Investment Piece: Missoni Rochelle Dress

After a couple of months "website dress stalking" and deciding on the perfect investment piece for early autumn, the Missoni Rochelle Dress has landed in my lap and I want to wear it right now! A nude and black wool-blend chic work-to-play investment. Beautifully crafted in a striking zigzag knit, this feminine piece needs little adornment - simply team it with platform sandals. A transitional piece for the last days of Summer (with platform sandals) to Autumn (with a roll neck, leather jacket and knee high boots). Another great investment piece from Missoni, the knit is luxurious to the touch and it feels as light as a feather on.

The Missoni Rochelle Dress £655 at Netaporter.com
Shown below with a YSL Dark Brown Belt.
The Black Patent Version of this YSL belt is available at FlannelsFashion.com

Super Offer: Extra 20% Off Clearance Pieces at Flannels

Flannels Manchester has always been a big hit with me, I like their buying. Each season their collections are really high quality in both fabrics and style. Their sales are really good too as they only stock good quality brands. Flannels are offering and extra 20% off their clearance pieces online. Friday 26th - Monday 29th August. Enter Code SALE20 at the checkout.

I like these stylish sandals by ASH £80 (£64 with the 20% discount). Reduced from £165. The thick ankle cuff is in line with the resort 2012 collections, so great for this year through to next.

Super Offer: 25% off One Item Online at H&M

Enjoy 25 % off 1 item of your choice from the new season collection when you buy something in the H&M online shop. The offer is valid until 4/9/11 when you enter discount code 9382.

I like this H&M crepe blazer jacket £19.99 (£15.00 with the 25% discount), the longer front lapels will probably need fixing in place with a fews hidden stitches. It is available in black or pale grey, the grey is more versatile and looks better quality in this style and fabric (elastane, viscose, polyester mix).

This is a good piece to buy if it fits you properly (A - C cup maximum), it lends itself well to dresses, trousers and skirts, the unstructured style makes this a multi-tasking jacket. It may not be a true investment piece as it will probably not last for years, but you'll certianly get your money's worth out of it.

Time Out: Garland's Organic Supermarket in Pangbourne Berkshire

I love this shop, unlike many other non-USA organic shops I've visited this really is a proper supermarket, just from the point of view that you can literally go in and do all your shopping. Everything looks fresh and the store is clean and modern looking. If you can't get to Garland's Organic Supermarket in Pangbourne, Berkshire, they deliver locally and nationally.

My favourite product at Garland's is Ortiz Yellow Fin Tuna from Spain. Packed in super colourful tins, 112g is £2.55 and 250g is £5.25. This tuna is very rich and tasty so a little goes a long way (and it's very filling). It's a favourite of Rick Stein and for sale in his shop.

It's advertised as "Perhaps the finest tinned tuna you'll ever try" and it is! For me this is the top layer of a salad Nicoise with French beans, anchovies, green salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, eggs and olives.

Conservas Ortiz is a family-run business which was established over 100 years ago and their fish is of the finest provenance, processed under extremely exacting criteria, much of the process still being done by hand. The tuna are caught sustainably by rod and line off Spain's Cantabrian coast.

Time Out: Take Thai 'M" Out at the Captain's Club Spa.

I visited the Captain's Club Spa for some well earned time out, the spa in located in the 4* Captain's Club Hotel. Hidden away from the main town, the modern, tranquil architecture is complemented by surrounding water, boats and nature.

Picture: Hydrotherapy Pool & Sauna.

On arrival I am greeted by one of the therapists who hands me a waffle robe, fluffy towel and spa flip flops in white. The changing rooms are individual, with everything you could need to use from GHD hair straighteners to Aromatherapy Associates products. The Captain's Club Spa has a sauna, hydrotherapy pool and a resistance swimming pool ( a small pool where you swim statically against a current of water). I took a dip in the hydrotherapy pool, then a warming relax in the sauna before settling on a lounger to enjoy some herbal tea with closed eyes and the sound of water in the background. Before I knew it a hour had passed and a therapist greeted me and showed me to a large treatment room.

The room was warm and the cappuccino colours soothing. The Phytomer therapist left me for a few minutes to slip on the paper thong, lie down face up and cover up with a warm fluffy towel. Then on returning the treatment started with a light misting of floral/marine water over my face and decollete. Then, came a whole succession of beautifully flowing treatments that make up the 1hr 20 minute "Take Thai M Out" Full Body and Facial treatment, as follows:

Body: An over towel full hand pressure point massage
Face & Neck: Creamy cleanser facial massage
Face & Neck: Warm wet cloth cleanser removal
Face & Neck: Light toner application
Face & Neck: Thick deep cleansing mask application
Whilst the mask is working…
Body: Marine salt scrub with a delightful swathing massage of the product starting from the legs and feet working upwards
Face & Neck: Warm wet cloth mask removal

Then turn over…
Body: Marine salt scrub with a more revitalising massaging of the product. The salt scrub is applied to the whole body with attention to the arm and legs
Then a warm shower is run and the therapist leaves whilst I showered off the excess salt scrub, leaving me with super soft, supple skin. I then lie down again face up, the therapist returns.
Face & Neck: A hydrating mask is applied, it is light in texture.

Picture: Bolus of sea salt crystals and ocean spray lavender.

Body: My body’s relaxation zones are massaged with a subtle heat bolus containing sea salt crystals and ocean spray lavender.
Body: A firm full body, muscle soothing sweeping hand massage with Phytomer Tresor Des Mers Ultra-Nourishing Body Cream. The velvety cream feels very nourishing on my skin and is a completely different feeling to a massage with oil.
Body: A different cream is applied to the bust and decollete with upward strokes.
Face: Warm wet cloth hydrating mask removal.
Face: Application of toner & hydrating cream

Turn over… now face down.
Body: Continuation of the heat bolus massage on the back of my legs and body
Body: Continuation of the the sweeping hand massage with Phytomer Tresor Des Mers Ultra-Nourishing Body Cream.

After a few minutes post massage rest and a glass of mineral water, I made my way back to the poolside feeling relaxed and renewed ready for a cup of ginger tea and a browse through the whole September issue of Vogue waiting for me by a very comfortable lounger.

One of the many positive aspects of this treatment is the use of the full face and body Phytomer range of marine products, specially targeting different areas of the body, also I am left feeling very relaxed in both my muscles and mind and my skin is very soft and hydrated. I slept well that night going to be at an astonishingly early 8pm! And awakening the next morning early and full of energy.

The Phytomer Take Thai 'M" Out Treatment £80.

Luxe High Street Find : Zara Silk Top - Arrived!

I few days ago I jotted a note about a super bargain and luxe high street find, a silk top £15.99 in the Zara sale. I ordered it online, it arrived in store, an email alerted me and I collected it. It is beautiful!

High Street Luxe Interiors Find: Purple Slub Silk Pleated Cushion £5

I enforce the same rules for buying high street home interiors pieces that I do for fashion. The essential reasons for buying are 1. Natural Quality Materials/Fabric: Solid Wood, Good veneers, Silk, Wool or Cotton, 2. Good Quality Construction, 3. Detail and 4. Buying at the right price.

With this in mind I was tickled to find a good quality slub silk cushion in Matalan at £5. Available in four colours, I think only the purple shade and the gold shade look of good quality, the others (red and light green) look a bit wishy-washy. Deep pigments always look better quality.

The UK isn't awash with Matalan stores, I think Matalan realise this and offer shipping at £2 and free shipping for orders over £40.

A similar detailed polyester cushion in Laura Ashley would cost around £30.

Designer Investment Piece: Hugo Boss Animal Print Scarf in the Flannels Sale
